Final tech week - evenings TBD at Coginchaug Regional High School
Cast members are called to rehearsals based on their group and/or role in the show. Different groups are called to specific rehearsal dates so not every child attends every rehearsal. The schedule is sent out monthly. The more scenes a child is in, the more rehearsals they will be called to attend. You cannot “make up” or swap a rehearsal as we rehearse different things each time.
If a child misses 2 or more rehearsals, we reserve the right to reduce or even terminate that child’s participation in the ensemble. Rehearsals are critical to a successful performance and a child’s level of confidence on stage. Additionally, absences may have a bigger impact on the other children attending rehearsals as they have to compensate for the gaps created by missing children.

Guiding Principles
Our goal is to provide a safe environment for kids to explore their talents, be part of a community of similar interests, and share the goal of presenting a full live performance. Art and theatre are great ways for kids to express themselves and we strive to help them find their inner voice. Trial and error is par for the course and we encourage kids to take risks by stepping outside their comfort zones, all the while ensuring they have a safe landing place.
We support the RSD13 core ethical values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Courage, and Kindness. We will not tolerate bullying or disruptive behavior. If you have any concerns about your child’s ability to focus and stay attentive, please let us know when you register and we will work together to identify approaches to ensure inclusivity and understanding.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What if there is bad weather on a rehearsal day?
For Friday rehearsals, we follow the RSD13 decision for schools. If there is no school or an early dismissal on a Friday, then there is no rehearsal.
For Sunday rehearsals, we make our own judgment call based on the weather report and forecast. We will make a decision by 10am that morning.
What if my child is sick or injured and misses several rehearsals?
We do not want to penalize a child who is sick but missing many rehearsals can have a very negative impact on the cast. We will work with the parents on an individual basis to determine what is in the best interest of the child and the cast based on the specific circumstances of each case.
What if my child has a conflict with a performance?
All children are expected to be available for performances. If you know in advance that your child is unavailable for a performance, they should not participate.
Do I have to buy my kids’ costumes?
Most costume pieces are provided by PaperHouse and returned to us after the show.. However, we often request families acquire their own base costume pieces (t-shirts or camis, bike pants or leggings, socks, shoes, etc). Specific colors and ‘styles’ (i.e. short sleeve vs long sleeve, flat casual sneakers, white socks, etc) are dictated by our designers and we try to provide links or potential stores where items might be most available at low cost to you. We also try to scavenge 2nd hand stores throughout the year to build our own stockpile and always ask parents to donate anything their own children may have outgrown so we can help families keep costs as low as possible. We do ask that families not buy costume pieces without conferring with us first or before we issue our costume requirement list.
Can I help with the show?
There will be a place on the registration form to indicate areas of interest for volunteering with the show. No talent is required, just enthusiasm, collaboration and time. We need help with everything from making costumes and props, to selling business ads, to chaperoning rehearsals. During the final week, we need extra help in setting and cleaning up. It takes a village to put on a show!
